Movie Story "19세기말, 영국 중부에 위치한 그레이(Farmer Grey: 숀 빈 분)라는 농부의 마굿간에서 희미한 전등 빛이 새어나오고 있다. 새 생명이 탄생하는 것이다. 컴컴한 가운데 두개의 다리가 나타나고 곧 이마에 하얀 별 모양이 있는 말이 태어난다. 점점 자라면서 안장을 얹고 말굽을 대는 등 주인을 맞을 차비를 하던 그는 드디어 마차를 끄는 말로 팔려 엄마와 이별한다. 그리고 블랙 뷰티라는 이름도 갖는다. 새집에는 진저라는 예쁘고 자존심 강한 밤색 말이 있었고, 둘은 곧 친해진다. 그러나 홍수가 나던 어느 날 블랙 뷰티는 감기에 걸리고 소년 조(Joe Green: 앤드류 노트 분)가 그를 열심히 간호한다. 그후 조는 매일 그를 찾아와 우정을 쌓아간다. 하지만 여주인의 병으로 이들은 헤어지게 된다. 다행히 블랙 뷰티와 진저는 한집으로 팔려가지만 마음씨 나쁜 주인은 유행에 따라 고삐를 높이 묶어 진저를 화나게 하고, 블랙 뷰티는 술주정뱅이 루빈(Reuben Smith: 아룬 암스트롱 분)을 태우고 가다가 무릎에 심한 상처를 입게 되는데...".
